SRC provides details on unprecedented amount of heroin suspension from Iran to Armenia

YEREVAN, JANUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. Preclearance Control Department of the State Revenue Committee in the result of the events carried out with Security Service of the Republic of Armenia on January 17 discovered 928 kg heroin types of illegal drugs which is unprecedented amount not only in the whole work activity of Armenia’s’ Customs service, but also in the discoveries recorded in the region.
“Armenpress” was informed from the Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the State Revenue Committee that on January 16 citizen of Georgia Avtandil Martiashvili’s truck entered Meghri customs-house empty for the aim of carrying out transit transfer from Iran to Georgia. The employees of the Preclearance Control Department of Meghri subjected the car to X-ray survey via “Rapiskan” equipment and discovered “foreign body” by thorough examination of appendage bottom, which was the basis for subjecting the truck and its appendage to detailed examination. The truck was accompanied to “Alliance Terminal” customs warehouse in enhanced control conditions, were it was examined by the suspect for smuggling. As a result, 47 drug-filled packages were taken out of the hidden place discovered on the bottom of the appendage, the total weight of which amounted 927.6 kg.
