YEREVAN, JANUARY 18, ARMENPRESS. Due to the professional actions of the Customs Service employees of the State Revenue Committee by the Government of the Republic of Armenia on January 17 the employees discovered large amount of 927 kg heroin types of illegal drug in the specially fitted hiding place in Meghri Customs Service as a result of checking the truck which was carrying out a transit travel from Iran to Georgia through the territory of Armenia. Such quantity of drugs is found in the region for the first time.
“Armenpress” was informed from the press center of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia that a criminal case has been aroused in Investigation Department of National Security Service. According to the law of the 2nd part of Article 215 of the Criminal Code of Republic of Armenia, the driver of the truck Avtandil Martiashvili born in Georgia in 1953 was arrested. Operative research work activities are carried out towards discovering other people related to the crime.
