On Armenian-Turkish meeting, which never took place

YEREVAN, JANUARY 10, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian-Turkish meeting, which never took place, has become an informational storm on the probably frozen surface of Arpaçay; a wind organized by the Turkish mass media in a cup of water. We are quite aware that the river is called Akhuryan, notwithstanding, it seems to us that the Governor of the Turkish village of Arpaçay has no idea about it and the media of his neighboring country placed him in the peak of those “historical” negotiations.

This time Gyumri appeared in the centre disinformation organized by the Turkish media, which states that a “drastic” meeting was held between the Armenian and Turkish delegations in Gyumri, at the course of which, according to the Turkish media, “issues regarding the international and legal agreements of the two countries have been under discussion”. If we put away the veil of propaganda, it becomes apparent that the Turkish media stated that nothing like that has happened. The representatives of the forces located on the Armenian-Turkish border met each other.

Probably, the head of the Arpaçay, Digor, and Akyaka communities from the Turkish side participated in the meeting. The facts are evident. Even a number of Turkish sources, which spread this “sensational” information, failed to reveal the identity of the Armenian participants of the aforesaid meeting. Furthermore, no Armenian official or governor attended the meeting and this fact has already been officially confirmed. Araksia Kirakosyan, Adviser to the Governor of Shirak, also stated this in a conversation with “Armenpress”. The Gyumri Municipality as well informed “Armenpress” that they have no information about a meeting with such an agenda.

The Press Spokesman for the Border Guard Service Sergey Grechin stated in a conversation with “Armenian Time” Daily that there has been a meeting between the frontier guards. The Spokesman did not unveil any further details about the meeting. Taking this into consideration we can conclude that the frontier meetings are nothing, but a part of common, working process. Under the scandalous headlines of the Turkish agencies, one can encounter such simple cases as of the violation of the border by animals and there is nothing unusual about it, as such things always happen. In this case it’s quite logical that such cases have taken place before, but have never been covered so zealously. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE ARTICLE IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
