Vardan Petrosyan’s lawyer denies statements on his drunkenness and fast driving

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 18, ARMENPRESS. The actor Vardan Petrosyan passed an examination after the accident according to which he did not use alcohol. The experts decided that car speed the actor drove was between 71-73 km / h range. The lawyer of the actor Vardan Petrosyan Nikolay Baghdasaryan stated it in a conversation with “Armenpress” reacting upon the statements sounded by the representative of the suffered side lawyer Ruben Baloyan on that Vardan Petrosyan was drunk and the speed of the car was high.

Nikolay Baghdasaryan noted that the Government of the Republic of Armenia has defined a method of checking the use of alcohol. “Drunkenness is checked through exclusively exhale air, blood and urine testing. This is the rule defined by the decision of the Government. According to the rule, a test was conducted through the expiration of air in “Nairi” medical center and a conclusion was given that Vardan Petrosyan is in sober state,” Baghdasaryan said adding that urine and blood testing was conducted but because much time had passed it was not possible to decide anything in that way. “In the result of the corresponding testing of the decision by our Government, it was decided that Vardan Petrosyan was in sober state”.

A major car crash occurred in Armenia’s Kotayk province on October 20. A BMW 320 car collided with a VAZ 2121 at the 2nd km of Yeghvard-Yerevan highway, sending the driver of VAZ 2121 and 6 passengers to hospital with injuries. Two of the injured died. A criminal case was opened under the Article 242 part 3 of the Criminal Code.

The renowned Armenian actor Vardan Petrosyan was driving the BMW. He was transported to Erebuni Medical Center with numerous fractures.

Earlier a note was published in the Facebook page of the actor, urging the people not to believe the lies saying that Vardan Petrosyan was drunk or broke the speed limit. The statement runs as follows: “We ask all those people, who spread these lies, disseminate hatred and voice about “justice” or vengeance, to wait for the end of the investigation. Vardan Petrosyan’s family got in touch with the family members of the victims and offered their deepest condolences”.
