Armenia to implement house arrest practice: Armenia's Minister of Justice

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of reforms of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia alternative punishments will be implemented in our country targeting to ease the intensity of work of the Criminal Executive Institutions. The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan stated this at the course of the press conference held on December 17. As reports “Armenpress” among other things the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan underscored: “Most of us attach considerable importance to the incarceration as a restraint. This is widely conditioned with the absence of alternative punishment. House arrest and other kinds of alternative punishment will be implemented in our code and we are hopeful that this will help us to ease the intensity of work of the Criminal Executive Institutions.”
