Armenian chess players took silver and bronze in European tournament

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: The member of the Armenian national chess men’s team Levon Aronyan was awarded with a bronze medal on the 1st board at the Open Section of the championship.In the same tournament the International Master Lilit Mkrtchyan took a silver medal on the 2nd board at the Women Section of the European Team Chess Championship that was held in Warsaw, Poland.

Armenpress reports that the tournament consisted of 9 rounds. The Armenian team took the fourth place and the winner of the tournament was the Azerbaijani team. In the women’s tournament our team took the fifth place and the winner was the Ukraine.

The European Team Chess Championship is one of the biggest and most prestigious chess events in the world. This year the ETCC was organized by the Polish Chess Federation and was held from 7th (day of arrival) to 18th (day of departure) of November 2013 in the Novotel Warszawa Centrum Hotel in Warsaw, Poland.
