YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS. At the course of the excavations launched in the Bronze Age complex Karashamb, the scientists have discovered hundreds of decorative buttons, daggers, ornamented arrows, and precious metals in the four tombs. In a conversation with “Armenpress” the Head of the Karashamb Expedition, the Director of Archeology and Ethnography Institute of National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia Pavel Avetisyan stated that in accordance with the preliminary information thetombs may be dated back to the 20-18 centuries B.C.
Karashamb is a town in the Kotayk Province of Armenia. Karashamb is the site of a major archaeological excavation of a Bronze Age cemetery with a number of barrows. The richest was a royal sepulchre where a superb silver cup, now one of the treasures of the National Museum, was discovered.
