YEREVAN, OCTOBER 2, ARMENPRESS: 17 countries agreed to open their doors before the Syrian refugees. This was stated by the UN Security Council High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres, stating that these countries could accept more than 10,000 refugees. As reported by Armenpress, quoting the Arab media, Mexico, Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, France, Luxemburg, Holland, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary and the United States of America are among the countries.
As known, the number of the Syrian refugees is about two million. The major part of the refugees settled in Lebanon. The President of Lebanon Michel Suleiman appealed to the international community to support the refugees. 10,000 Syrian Armenians found shelter in the Republic of Armenia because of the Syrian crisis.
