Head of IMF mission considered effective discussions on new cooperation with Armenian authorities

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: IMF mission which arrived in Armenia in connection with achieving new arrangement with Armenia left the country. “Armenpress” reports that according to formed tradition after discussions with authorities head of mission Mark Horton spread a massage briefly introducing the position of mission on process of program implementation.

“The discussions were effective; progress has been achieved in 2013-2016 policy and actions. Further discussions are expected in Washington during annual meeting of IMF and World Bank,” mentioned head of IMF mission after the visit.

According to IMF statement in 2013 Armenia’s business activation has become moderate which reflects external low demand, financial position lower than expected, slow credit growth. Gas and electricity tariff increase in July will probably slow down business activation. In 2013 is expected economic growth less than 4 percent, but in middle term is expected gradual increase up to 5 percent based on strong structural reforms, greater regional integration.

Fiscal deficit of 2013 will be less than GDP 2 percent compared with 2.6 percent of 2012. Revenue corresponds to budget target border but it will be low.

IMF mission was in Armenia on September 5-18. Meetings were held with Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Minister of Finance Davit Sargsyan, Chairman of Central Bank Arthur Javadyan, Minister of Economy Vahram Avanesyan, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan, Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan and other officials.
