German ambassador to Armenia visited Gyumri

GYUMRI, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS: Newly appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Reiner Morell on August 1 visited Gyumri. In framework of the meeting the ambassador held meetings with mayor of Gyumri Samvel Balasanyan and head of Shirak region Felix Tsolakyan.
Welcoming the guest Samvel Balasanyan expressed hope that the newly appointed ambassador will continue the work of previous ambassador and visit Gyumri frequently. Balasanyan introduced to the guest not only the social problems of the city but also historical and cultural values. He also introduced the industrial abilities of the city. Speaking about issues of mutual interest mayor of Gyumri highlighted tourism. “I think tourism is the sphere where we can find points interesting both us. As cultural capital Gyumri can host tourists and introduce its potential I think we can cooperate in this field,” mentioned Balasanyan.
Mayor of Gyumri suggested creating any production with German technologies. There was also reverberation to declaring Gyumri sister city with one of German cities. During the conversation the ambassador became gald hearing that several Syrian Armenian families expressed wish to live in Gyumri and municipality is supporting them. “I am glad on that occasion. It means that they imagine their future in this city. They can also be useful for the city,” mentioned Morell.
At the end of the meeting Samvel Balasanyan and Reiner Morell exchanged with souvenirs. “Gyumri is very interesting city and has interesting cultural history,” shared with his emotions Morell.
