Political scientist considers Armenia irreplaceable for Russia

YEREVAN, JULY 8, ARMENPRESS: The Republic of Armenia is irreplaceable for Russian Federation from point of defending its political interests in South Caucasus direction. Such opinion expressed political scientist Alexander Iskandaryan during the press conference on July 8. “In order to keep its political wing in this direction Russia cannot replace Armenia with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Abkhazia or Ossetia,” Iskandaryan said adding that Armenia-Russia relations are of mutual interest, reports “Armenpress”.

The political scientist from point of security of Armenia considers Russia irreplaceable in case when Turkey is a NATO member, Azerbaijan is its ally and Nagorno-Karabakh conflict exists.

Armenia and Russia are strategic partners; between the countries have been signed tens of treaties and agreements. In security sphere the cooperation level is the highest and most active. In Armenia is located Russian 102nd military base.
