"Ararat 73" – 40 years after: Sergey Poghosyan urges today's national team to follow example of his teammates

YEREVAN, MAY 29, ARMENPRESS. The more we study the details regarding the triumphs of "Ararat 73", the more new and interesting facts and events come forth, which are unknown for the contemporary footballers. - What are Your memories about 1973 now, when 40 years have already passed?

- Of course I don’t remember the entire season, but 1973 is very dear to me and I shall never forget it, as it was that very year we reached our goal. It was really difficult. And in the midst of these all I can underline the matches against Kiev's "Dynamo". The "Dynamo" players were even called "team-machine". Frankly speaking, I am glad and saddened at these memories. I appreciate those achievements much higher now, when so many years have passed. Within a single season we became both champions and cup-winners. We really deserved it.

- In Your opinion, who were those individuals, who were taking forward "Ararat" on their shoulders?

- We all were playing for victory. You know, it's interesting that when I watch matches of "Barcelona", I recall our games and compare them with us. In those days we used to play like "Barcelona" plays now. We all were in consonant with each other and smoothly acted in both attack and defense.
