Iran-Armenia railway construction program is in Armenian political agenda: Tigran Sargsyan

GYUMRI, MAY 28, ARMENPRESS: The construction program of Iran-Armenia railway is in the Armenian political agenda. As was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan at the briefing with the journalists in Gyumri, by the request of the Armenian Government, one of the Russian companies carried out researches on the project to find out what investments would be necessary.

The President of the “Russian Railways” Company Vladimir Yakunin stated that the Russian side is currently interested what position Georgia has in the direction of the opening of the Abkhazian railway, which, in its turn, will create new opportunities for the Iran-Armenia railway construction issue.

By the evaluation of the Armenian and European experts, the project will cost about 2-4 billion USD.
