YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. A medal has been issued on the occasion of Martiros Saryan's 100th anniversary in 1980. Martiros Saryan's name has been depicted on the medal in Armenian and Russian languages.
In a conversation with “Armenpress” the author of the memorial medal sculptor Levon Tokmajyan noted that notwithstanding the "connection" with Saryan is not limited with the abovementioned memorial medal alone, but it also remained in the memory and he is always proud for it too. Among other things Levon Tokmajyan noted: "The memorial medal is truly a steady memory connected with Martiros Saryan's 100th anniversary." He also recalled that the spectators were surprised and exclaimed: "It turns out that even a memorial medal can be a piece of art."
Martiros Saryan – unique symbol of Armenia
Martiros Saryan is truly one of the symbols of Armenia. He is among those individuals, who constructed, enriched Armenia, and administrated the cultural renaissance. A number of things are connected with his name in Armenia. Saryan's granddaughter, the Director of Martiros Saryan's Museum Ruzan Saryan numbered them in a conversation with "Armenpress". In her words, Martiros Saryan became the founder of the school of modern Armenian painting and it’s logical that a higher educational institution of fine arts should had been named after him.
