Aznavour met with Armenians living in Beijing

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. Within the framework of closure of Francophonia year in China the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to China organized the meeting of renowned Armenian singer Charles Aznavour with the Armenians living in Beijing. The Department of Press, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informed "Armenpress" that alongside with the Armenian community of Beijing prominent Armenian Chess Grandmasters Levon Aronian and Elina Danielyan attended the event. Levon Aronian and Elina Danielyan paid a visit to China to partake in World Mind Games. The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to China Armen Sargsyan greeted the participants and told Aznavour about small Armenian community living in China. This was followed by the questions the participants of the event asked their world-known compatriot.

In the warm atmosphere, which reigned during the whole course of the meeting, Aznavour introduced several histories from his life and told about his meetings with famous figures of his time. Emphasizing the importance of preservation of the Armenian identity, Aznavour called on the youth never to be cut off their roots. Among other things Charles Aznavour stated: "This is what gives strength to our compatriots, who appeared in various parts of the world, to face with all the difficulties."
