In case of necessity Vladimir Hakobyan will return to Armenian Chess Team

2 minute read

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Unlike others, thrice Chess Olympic Champion Vladimir Hakobyan has never drawn parallels between life and chess. The Grandmaster does not take chess serious. Neither he considers them to be his sole occupation. In a conversation with "Armenpress" the thrice Olympic Champion spoke about his phenomenal memory and the future of the Armenian chess.

- Was it an easy decision for thrice Olympic Champion Vladimir Hakobyan to leave the Armenian Chess Team?

- Frankly speaking, at the time I have made up my mind, I did not expect such resonance. Just I have such idea even before this Olympiad. I am thrice Olympic Champion. I will not participate only in chess Olympiads, because unlike other competitions Olympiads are very intense, difficult and complicated. I have always thought that I must retire with triumph. I am willing to support our team even as a second and third trainer.

- Are You sure that there will be new guys in the team, who will do their best to help the team to win in difficult situations?

- Presently we have excellent young chess players, who can substitute me, of course after hard working and trainings. The next Olympiad will launch only two years later, and this time is enough to get ready. To my opinion they can play, especially when one is playing not before the first or second decks, but the third and fourth. Notwithstanding, I repeat if there is nobody, who can support our team for 2014 Olympiad in Norway, I am willing to do it. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
