YEREVAN, JULY 23, ARMENPRESS: The election results of July 19 Presidential elections held in Nagorno Karabakh state that the elections passed in the competitive terms. Black Sea-Caspian region and Social Research Institute political scientist Andrey Areshev had a briefing with the journalists on July 23.

‘’ The candidates have raised various issues in their election programs and the election results come to prove that grave changes took place in Artsakh during the last five years. The polls were transparent and fair. We have attended almost all the polling stations, even the places difficult to get: they saw the observers for the first time’’ Areshov noted, Armenpress reports.

CIS countries Institute, Caucasus expert Mikhail Aleksandrov stated it was the first time the elections held in Nagorno Karabakh were so much paid attention to.

Many came forth with negative remarks pertain to the launch of elections, stating they were illegal and hinder NK issue peaceful settlement. Yet, simultaneously with this OSCE Minsk Group statement runs : the launch of elections is not a negative phenomenon, which is already a progress’’ Aleksandrov concluded.

‘’These elections prove a competitive political environment is going to be formed in NKR, with a cooperation of the opposition and the authorities’’ political scientist concluded.

Artsakh was holding Presidential Election on July 19. 72 thousand 958 electors aut of 99 thousand 227 partook at the elections, where 47 thousand 95 citizens casted their vote in favor of Bako Sahakyan.
