Portugal is in semifinal

YEREVAN, JUNE 22, ARMENPRESS: The first ¼ final match of EURO 2012 took place in Warsaw “National” stadium. National team of Czech Republic which gained the first place in group A met with Portuguese national team which was the second in group B. Armenpress reports that at the beginning of the first half Czech players having examined properly the opponent’s tactical and technical abilities created strong defense. They were trying to avoid the unpleasant surprise of Portugal. Czechs were not only defending but also organizing counterattacks. Portugal was trying to find the weak places of Czech. Czech players were more active in organizing positional attacks.

At the last minutes of the first half Cristiano Ronaldo could open the score but he did not have enough luck. The first half ended 0:0. At the second half national team of Portugal had more chances to score a goal but Petr Cech was good enough. At the 79th minute of the match Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal. After the goal Portugal tried to double the score adding the pressure on the opponent. Czech Republic was not able to organize attacks.

The match ended 1:0. In the semifinal Portugal will play against the winner of the couple Spain-France.
