Armenian community of France getting ready for meeting with Sarkozy

YEREVAN, MARCH 1, ARMENPRESS. The French Armenian community is discussing the questions it is going to forward to the President of France Nicolas Sarkozy during their meeting. Speaking to Armenpress, director of the ARF Armenian Cause France's Office Hrach Varzhapetyan said the works on preparation of the meeting are underway. The day will be appointed by the President of France.

"Sarkozy stated that by the end of his presidency he will bring the issue on the bill penalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide till the end and in case of necessity draft a new bill. Currently, the leader of his party and representatives state that such like bill cannot be presented before the elections," Varzhapetyan said.

On February 28 the Constitutional Council of France ruled the bill criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide unconstitutional. After the ruling President of France Nicolas Sarkozy assigned Ministry of Justice to draft a new bill.
