Charles Aznavour addresses letter of Gratitude to French President

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS:

World-renowned Armenian singer, Armenia's Ambassador to Switzerland, Charles Aznavour sent a letter of gratitude to French President Nicolas Sarkozy on the French National Assembly's passing of the bill that criminalizes the denial of Armenian Genocide.

"You have spoken, on many occasions, in favor of condemning the denial with a law, justly noting that the right of free expression is not a freedom to manipulate history," Aznavour wrote in his letter.

He stressed that France caused a sense of pride among 500 thousand French Armenians.

"During your exclusive visit to Yerevan you called upon Turkey to face its own history," the letter runs.
