YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS:
The entrance to the Georgian harbors will be facilitated for the Armenians thanks to the programs implemented between Armenia and Georgia in the sphere of infrastructures, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan stated at the joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Mikhail Saakashvili, Armenpress reports, citing GHN.
“The construction of the North-South highway will connect Yerevan and Batumi which will promote the increase of trade turnover between the two countries,” Serzh Sargsyan said, adding that 20% of cargos imported to Armenia come through the territory of Georgia.
President Sargsyan also voiced hope that the construction of the highway will soon be completed which will create an opportunity for the more speeded-up development of Armenia’s economy. “This year the trade turnover between our countries increased by 20%: it is good but naturally, it is not enough. We must fully use our opportunities,” Serzh Sargsyan stressed.
