No big expectations from discussions of Genocide bills in legislative bodies of Israel and France

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 28, ARMENPRESS:

The discussion of the Armenian Genocide bill at the Israeli Knesset will not give the expected result for Armenians: it is being served only for political aims, Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan told reporters November 28, convincing that Israel is currently in such relations with Turkey that it will use all the means of pressure.

"The expectations are not much from the discussion of the bill on criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide in the French Senate. More probably, it will be postponed till parliamentary elections, where this issue will be one of the play cards of one of the candidates," the Turkologist said, adding that the presidential candidates have already made statements and expressed their approaches toward the Armenian Genocide and the steps toward its denial.
