Frank and transparent elections to promote development of democracy in Armenia: Lonsdale

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 14, ARMENPRESS:

Great Britain supports the cooperation between Armenia and EU as it creates basis for further reforms in Armenia, ambassador of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Charles Lonsdale told a news conference today.

"During the four years of tenure in office I have seen transparency in interior issues connected with open discussion of issues of management and corruption. It was very encouraging to see the works directed toward ensuring legislative field and fighting against corruption," Lonsdale said.

The ambassador highlighted Serzh Sargsyan's statement that business must be differentiated from authorities.

"The statements of the prime minister and president that the further elections must be the most frank and transparent in the history of new Armenia are welcoming. It is a wonderful opportunity for Armenia to show progress on the way to democratic development," the ambassador noted.
