Details of EBRD’s new strategy of cooperation with Armenia discussed

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS:

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received today Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Jan Fisher, who has arrived in Armenia to determine the priorities of EBRD activity in Armenia.

Governmental press office reported that greeting the guest, Tigran Sargsyan said: "We rate high our relations with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. We have passed a long way and have had achievements we are proud of. But we face problems, as well, and we hope that your visit will provide an opportunity to clarify our future steps."

Jan Fisher expressed gratitude to the prime minister for the reception and referred to the main provisions of the new strategy of cooperation between Armenia and EBRD. He particularly noted that the Bank attaches importance to the implementation of programs targeted at the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and the private sector.

The EBRD Vice-President highly appreciated the efforts of the Armenian government directed toward the improvement of the business atmosphere. He thanked Tigran Sargsyan for heading the Council of Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, which speaks of the attention the government pays to the development of SMEs.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan rated high the cooperation between the EBRD and the Armenian Government, attaching importance to its continuation.
