The earthquake of 7.2 magnitude that hit October 23 Turkey and was felt in Armenia did not harm Armenia's Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant. Speaking to Armenpress, deputy head of the rescue service of Ministry of Emergency Situations Nikolay Grigoryan said earthquake of 4-5 magnitude can harm neither a nuclear power plant nor any other high-storeyed building.
The Turkish media disseminated information that Armenia's nuclear power plant was damaged as a result of the earthquake in Van. Turkey's nuclear energy organization also insisted that even a leak was registered in Armenia's Metsamor.
