Dafina Gercheva says unsettled regional conflict to be taken into consideration while making decision on Azerbaijan’s membership

The discussions over Azerbaijan's temporary membership to the UN Security Council have not been ended yet and it is not clear what the final decision will be, UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia Dafina Gercheva told a news conference today.

According to her, while making the decision the unsettled conflict in the region will also be taken into consideration. "It is difficult to make any conclusions, but I am sure that the unsettled conflict in the region will be taken into consideration appropriately and the consequences it may have on the process of membership too," she said, stressing that though UN is not implementing brokering mission in the NK conflict settlement but it supports the OSCE Minsk group efforts addressed to the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
