Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan: Minsk Group has become used to Azerbaijan’s accusations

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS:

It is not the first time Azerbaijan is accusing the OSCE Minsk Group in biased attitude in favor of Armenia but after 20 years of working the Minsk Group has become used to it, political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan told a news conference today. The latter is convinced that the Minsk Group has understood that the settlement of the Karabakh conflict must be forwarded by the negotiating parties, and their issue is to exclude the war actions.

"West, Europe and Russia do not want another stage of hot activities, that is why it is beneficial for them to maintain the current "status-quo". But the Azerbaijani war rhetoric makes the international community understand that this country strives to somehow sharpen the situation. In response international establishments are making rough statements addressed to Azerbaijan," the political analyst said, adding that these very statements Azerbaijan perceives as biased attitude.

Speaking about further developments, Melik-Shahnazaryan said that the fact of the coming elections in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia hints that no essential changes must be expected in the negotiations process in near future. "It seems that France picked up the baton. But in this case as well it is clear that the sides will not manage to ensure any new changes. Even Dmitry Medvedev did not succeed in it, neither will France," the analyst said.
