YEREVAN, OCTOBER 6, ARMENPRESS:

"The visit of the President of France Nikolas Sarkozy to Armenia is a planned one, it is not a force majéur visit", political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan told a news conference today. He said the visit of Sarkozy to the region is natural: he has something to say in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.

"Sarkozy is a person who participated in the regulation of the Russian-Georgian relations during the war between these two countries", Iskandaryan said, referring to the visit of Sarkozy to Georgia.

As to Azerbaijan, it is of energy significance for France, besides it would have been impossible to visit Armenia and Georgia and bypass Azerbaijan.

Sarkozy will stay comparatively long in Armenia. "I do not want to underestimate other European countries, but I must note that Armenia and France are in better relations", the political analyst said, adding that France is member of the Minsk group, moreover the only "European" member. France is a country that is economically presented in Armenia: French organizations are operating in Armenia, besides the two countries have ancient long cultural ties.

"Armenia has positive attitude toward France, and vice versa. This attitude exists not only between leaderships of the two countries but peoples as well", the speaker said.
