Eduard Sharmazanov: International community supports democratic processes in Armenia

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS: International community supports and highly assesses democratic processes running in Armenia, Secretary of Armenian Republican Party's faction Eduard Sharmazanov said today at National Assembly.

Referring to Armenian President's speech at the United Nations, Eduard Sharmazanov noted that speech conveyed distinct signals to international community, including a signal that the democratic freedoms in Armenia do not have an alternative.

"The triumphal march of self-determination right is going on in Armenia. Conducting parallels with the South Sudan shows that international recognition of Artsakh Republic is inevitable," Eduard Sharmazanov mentioned this as a second signal, adding that Azerbaijan continues the propaganda of racism and war. The next signal, according to Sharmazanov, is that it is the Turkish party that is guilty for throwing down of the Armenian-Turkish process."The speech one more time showed that our positions are in harmony with the position of international community," the Secretary of the Republican Party's faction said.

From the President's visit to France, Eduard Sharmazanov attached importance to discussion of wide range of issues presenting bilateral interest and to French President's positive assessment on the reforms implemented in Armenia. From Serzh Sargsyan's speech at Eastern Partnership Summit Eduard Sharmazanov particularly singled out that Armenia supports "more support - more reforms" principle.

From the President's speech Eduard Sharmazanov attached importance to the parts, which were dedicated to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. "It was distinctly mentioned that Armenia is faithful to the process running with mediation of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. And the key of solution of this issue is in mastering of the own destiny by people. Artsakh inhabitants are as much Europeans as each of us. That is, Artsakh is not only a territory, but first of all people, who build a state anchored on democratic principles," the parliamentarian said.

He also stressed that the conclusive declaration of Warsaw is in harmony with the positions of the Armenian party, where it was noted that the conflicts must be settled in peaceful conditions, on the basis of International Law.

"So, I should mention that Armenian authorities are resolute to continue the reforms course and implement a policy, which stems from national and state profits of our country," Eduard Sharmazanov stressed.
