Turkologist: Armenian-Turkish protocols, together with 166 international agreements and contracts returned back to the Turkish parliament

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS:

The Turkish media described the decision of the Turkish ministerial council on returning the Armenian-Turkish protocols to the agenda of the parliament as a "gesture toward Armenia", Turkologist Gevorg Petrosyan said speaking to Armenpress and adding that the decision in reality refers not only to Armenian-Turkish protocols but to other 166 international agreements and contracts that have been returned back to the parliament.

"These agreements and contracts have remained as a heritage from the previous parliament of Turkey and waited for the ratification of the big national assembly. Now Turkey is facing serious issues in its foreign policy, among them are relations with Iran, Syria, Cyprus and Israel. Stemming from this circumstance it is not beneficial for Turkey to create another tension in the region", Petrosyan noted.

"At the same time it is necessary to point out that Turkey avoids applying sharp steps and finally "bury" protocols. Sending them to parliament the official Ankara gets an opportunity to maneuver in the international arena", Petrosyan said.
