Hrayr Tovmasyan: Independence is an opportunity, a tool to independently determine your country’s destiny

Independence is not enough for solution of all issues. But independence is an opportunity, a tool to independently determine your country's destiny, Armenian Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan told Armenpress.

"We have achievements: it is our independent state, the current status of Nagorno Karabakh. Without Armenia's independence our achievements in Artsakh would be impossible. Existence of two Armenian states is already a serious result," Mr. Tovmasyan said. In his opinion, today's army is an achievement, too, thanks to which Armenian people feel defended.

Despite the achievements, according to Mr. Tovmasyan, there are also flaws. He said that actually there is an issue of regulating the public life anew, preserving of basic human rights and dignity as highest merits.

"Naturally, the most part of them is conditioned by the issues of the department I rule. There must be a trust in state institutes. An independent state is based on two rod posts – justice and defense," Hrayr Tovmasyan said.

The minister noted that people's trust in justice system is not at a proper level. According to him, here are flaws to fulfill.
