Eduard Sharmazanov: NK conflict has one solution – international recognition of Artsakh Republic

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS: The steps directed toward formation and strengthening of solidarity, unity and dialogue are going on under the head of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Secretary of the Armenian Republican Party's faction Eduard Sharmazanov stated at the National Assembly, stressing that its vivid evidence is the draft report of Co-Rapporteurs on Armenia Lord John Prescott and Axel Fisher, where they welcome the steps of Armenian authorities directed toward reforms.

The parliamentarian also referred to 20th anniversary of proclamation of the Artsakh Republic, which is symbolic for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh, noting that today Artsakh is a consolidated state, which, in contrast to Azerbaijan, follows the path of democratic development. "I am sure that Nagorno Karabakh cannot have lower status than it has today, and today Artsakh is an independent and democratic republic, the democratic achievements of which are accepted by many international institutions," Mr. Sharmazanov added.

In that context the parliamentarian pointed out the statement of Foreign Minister of Uruguay Luis Almagro, according to which Nagorno Karabakh is the historical part of Armenia, and must be independent or be joined with Armenia. According to Edward Sharmazanov, this statement shows that NK conflict has one solution: it is the international recognition of Artsakh Republic.
