“ArmenTel” fined by 100 million AMD

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 13, ARMENPRESS:

RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC) has fined "ArmenTel" company with 100 million AMD for abusing the dominating status in the market. Chairman of SCPEC Artak Shaboyan said that after the opening of the case, "ArmenTel" company applied to them through a mediator accepting the fact of violation and assuming commitment to eliminate it in short period of time. The commission has set up two-week timeframe at the same time giving sharp reprimand to the company.

"Ucom" company has presented an application-complain against "ArmenTel" being dissatisfied with the activity of the company. The thing is that "ArmenTel" has established 99 AMD tariff for the calls from its mobile network to "Ucom"'s fixed network in case when for others it makes 29.99, 39 and 59 depending on tariff plan. "Ucom" company has informed the commission that this working style of ArmenTel raises the complaint of subscribers, impeding the formation of healthy competitive atmosphere and makes the subscribers reject the services of the company.

The commission registered that the company has established unequal competitive conditions.

With two decisions of the commission (one was made earlier) ArmenTel company will pay 100 million AMD for abusing dominating position and 500 thousand AMD for unconscientious competition.
