YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: The Dutch parliament's Christian Union, Socialist Party, Reformed Political Party and Party for Freedom sent a query August 31 to Foreign Minister of the Netherlands Uri Rosenthal on the Armenian Genocide.
Minister Uri Rosenthal had referred to the Armenian Genocide as "horrific events of 1915" and did not use the term of genocide. Vardeni Echo, PR service official from the Armenian National Committee of Europe, reported Armenpress that the letter by the parliamentarians has not been responded yet and that the process may last weeks or months.
The Dutch politicians, among them former Foreign Minister and current Prime Minister Maxime Verhagen, as well as the mass media mainly do not avoid using the term of Armenian Genocide. The parliamentarians' current query is aimed at making clear whether the Dutch Government yielded to the pressure by Turkey and changed its position or not.
