Islamic Monuments Preserved in Artsakh at State Level

YEREVAN, AUGUST 11, ARMENPRESS: Not so many Muslim monuments exist in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic, yet all of them are preserved by the state, according to Davit Babayan, head of the central information department of the Office of Artsakh Republic President.

Some officials of Azerbaijan's Culture Ministry stated that they tend to raise the issue of destruction of Azerbaijani monuments in Armenia at UNESCO.

"What is an Azerbaijani monument? The Azerbaijani nation itself was officially formed in 1936. Thus, the buildings built in the 1970s in former Aghdam during war are considered Azerbaijani monuments? If Azerbaijan considers them a historical monument of the Azerbaijani people, that is another matter," Davit Babayan noted. He stated that no any Muslim monument is being destroyed in Artsakh.

Davit Babayan says the statement of the Azerbaijani side is again misinformation, through which Azerbaijan tends to "keep the light of anti-Armenian propaganda always burning".
