Davit Jamalyan Says Russia to Support Armenia in Case of Military Adventure by Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS:

Armenia will receive serious support by Russia – its strategic ally – in case of war by Azerbaijan, according to Davit Jamalyan, military expert.

Davit Jamalyan says his statement is based on the current level of Armenian-Russian relations, as well as statements by Russian Armed Forces high officials, inter alia the statement by Andrei Tretyak, head of the RF Armed Forces operations staff.

The military expert said the 2008 Russian-Georgian war decreased the possibility of resumption of the Armenian-Azerbaijani war, as first of all it is not beneficial for Russia. "This is a matter of fact: RF will never permit a war in South Caucasus. This is openly stated. And, nonetheless, in case Azerbaijan applies military adventure, Russia will support Armenia quite seriously. I have no doubt," he said.

He added that in Baku people realize that the situation is currently not favorable for the resumption of the war.
