Ruben Safrastyan says Turkey not to return even one monument

YEREVAN, JULY 26, ARMENPRESS:

Turkey perceived the Resolution adopted by the US House Foreign Affairs Committee on "Return of Churches" as interference into the inner political life of its country, Turkologist Ruben Safrastyan said at a news conference today, saying that Turkey will barely call into life the resolution. He said that if this amendment was adopted by the Congress as well Turkey would possibly implement it.

"No one in the Turkey's administration is willing to return the historic monuments. They understand that in that case they will accept that they all belonged not to them – Turks – but to other nations and bearers of other culture, like Armenians. Turkey has already adopted a tough position and it is not going to return at least one or two monuments", Safrastyan said. He convinced that such resolutions will not force the current Turkish government change its ancient-long approach toward other nations and their cultural values.
