YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS:
Closed borders must not hamper the development of trade-economic ties between Armenia and Turkey, director of the "Assistance to the Improvement of Armenia-Turkey Relations" program Arthur Ghazaryan stated today. According to him, the outcome of lobbying of the business circles of the two countries may be the decision of the political forces to open the border.
He said bilateral relations may develop in the spheres of tourism, transport, IT, light industry, construction, furniture making, trade.
"The best model of cooperation is the creation of joint ventures, but as of the moment we realize that during this meeting we cannot create much of them", he stressed.
Arthur Poghosyan said currently the import from Turkey is few times more than export to Turkey: if the import makes 250 million USD, the export amounts to 160-170 thousand USD. It is a big disbalance which should be eliminated.
The director also said that during the meeting they will try to reveal the potential existing in Armenia and the ways to establish cooperation.
