PM says opening of companies abroad by Armenian businessmen not dangerous

YEREVAN, JULY 22, ARMENPRESS:

The Armenian government is thoroughly studying the capital flows, the payment balance of our country. There is no outflow of the capital, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the meeting with intellectuals at the outgoing sitting of the Union of Armenian Writers in Oshakan. The head of the government, of course, did not exclude the cases when Armenian businessmen, though earning money in Armenia, build factories not in our country but outside of it, but on the other hand, carrying out liberated policy, the government cannot apply limitations against Armenian businessmen and dictate them how they should manage their financial flows.

"We have the following argument, our businessmen must diversify their risks which stem from the interest of our country. If the businessmen organizing their business in Armenia have diversified businesses, it will ensure the economic stability of our country. Many people are concerned that our compatriots instead of making investments in Armenia, are making them in Georgia. We have thoroughly studied the issue, by the way we have reached arrangement with the authorities of Georgia, according to which they will share information about these businesses. I meet with the people to learn the reasons why they want to transfer their business", Tigran Sargsyan said.

According to him, there are cases when businessmen established here their business in Armenia and open subsidiaries in Georgia, or are exporting their products to that country. "It is understandable that these are just economic activities and are not dangerous", the prime minister said, adding that the dangerous will be the cases if they close their businesses in Armenia and move it to Georgia, but today there are no such cases.
