Ruben Safrastyan Says Turkey Tends to Appropriate Values Created by Other Peoples

YEREVAN, JULY 20, ARMENPRESS:

The discussion of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Resolution 306 on the return of the heritage of Christians in Turkey is quite important and topical, according to Ruben Safrastyan, Turkologist, director of the RA NAS Institute of Oriental Studies.

"By saying topical I mean the monuments that are destroyed in Turkey. Some way should be found to prevent this somehow. The adoption of the resolution will make Barack Obama's administration face some obligations: it will be obliged to interfere," Ruben Safrastyan said. He added that the issue is also expected to be discussed by UNESCO, various establishments of the EU, Council of Europe. "Armenia should have its active participation in this process".

"The adoption of the resolution will lead to the fact that the world once again will condemn the policy by Turkey, which tends to appropriate the cultural values created by other peoples," the Turkologist said.
