Number of people departing for Batumi increases

YEREVAN, JULY 19, ARMENPRESS:

As of July 17, the volume of Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan passenger transportations carried out by the South Caucasian Railways company makes 5 947 people. Vahe Davtyan, head of the press service of the company, told Armenpress that the number of people getting use of the train is increasing: during the same span of the past year the number of people was 4 213. Averagely, 250 Yerevan-Batumi tickets are being sold daily.

As of July 17, 12 600 Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan tickets were sold against 4 718 of the same span of the past year.

Referring to the tariffs, Davtyan said they are changing in accordance with the fluctuation of Swiss frank which is natural in the formation of passenger transportation via train in the whole world and Armenia is not exclusion. In July the cost of the bedroom-wagons of "Armenia" train in July amounted to 18 010 drams, compartment's cost made 15 890 and second-class sleeping carriage 10 290.

The first trip to Batumi the "Armenia" train made June 15. The train will travel Yerevan-Batumi-Yerevan everyday till October 1. This year the train will reach Batumi in 16 hours 55 minutes instead of 18 hours 13 minutes of the past year.
