Serge Avedikian Says the Theme of Armenian Genocide Should be in the Limelight of Young Directors’ Films

YEREVAN, JULY 12, ARMENPRESS: Famous French-Armenian film director Serge Avedikian says he thinks the theme of the Armenian Genocide should be in the limelight of young directors' films.

Serge Avedikian said today at a news conference that the fact the young generation of Armenian and Turkish directors touches upon the theme of the Armenian Genocide in films is gratifying. "It is not proper to rely on the elder generation," he said. The director says he does not set himself an object to raise in his films only the issue of the Armenian Genocide. "I just shoot films that depict the reality irrespective of any historical event," he added.

According to Serge Avedikian, it is necessary for Armenian and Turkish directors to cooperate. "It became possible to create an opportunity of cooperation among Armenian and Turkish directors due to the Armenian-Turkish cinema platform, established within the framework of the festival," Serge Avedikian said.
