YEREVAN, JULY 12, ARMENPRESS:
Washington and Moscow understand very well that there is no recipe for speedy settlement of the NK conflict, deputy director of the Caucasus Institute, political analyst Sergey Minasyan told a news conference today, adding that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states for already the second decade are trying to settle the issue or at least maintain the cease-fire regime. According to him, if a document is signed over the NK conflict settlement it will mean that either the world powers want to avoid tension, or it will mean the launch of new phase of talks which again will last for decades.
The political scientist said currently it is difficult to reach the settlement of the NK issue as the viewpoints of the parties are completely different.
Speaking about the proposals of the RF President brought to Yerevan and taken to Baku by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavorv, Minasyan said Russia will more probably try to modify the proposals existing in Kazan but the content will remain the same – a provision about referendum or establishing status of NK will by all means exist. It is the part Azerbaijan is dissatisfied with.
