Tigran Sargsyan: “Analyses of Professional Rating Organizations Should be observed in Order To Have a Real Understanding of Armenia’s Economy”

YEREVAN, JULY 9, ARMENPRESS: "Forbes" is not the professional organization, which is engaged in the rating of economies of countries, and in order to have a real understanding of Armenia's economy the analyses of professional rating organizations should be observed, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said today at the meeting with the Armenian community to Rostov-on-Don.

The prime minister said Fitch Ratings and Moody's Analytics are such professional financial rating organizations. "If we observe their rating, we will see indices about which we can talk," Tigran Sargsyan said. He says those indices show that the reforms in Armenia's economy give positive results.

The prime minister presented the specifications and primary directions of Armenia's economy to the Armenian community. He said the industry makes 15-16% of the country's GDP and mentioned that the RA inherited from the Soviet Union a number of enterprises that do not operate now. "In the recent years there were some investments in this sphere. The factories having their markets operate now. Gradually they are being restored and we hope they will hold their place in the international arena," the RA prime minister said.

Tigran Sargsyan says the Armenian agricultural goods are of high quality and the Government has an objective to increase the exportation level. He informed that the services sphere makes the 42% of the GDP. "Every year Armenia hosts 700 thousand tourists, and this sphere is one of our priorities. The RA Government aims to achieve the index of hosting three million tourists per annum," the prime minister said. He added that the tourism infrastructures in Armenia, particularly in Tsakhkadzor, Jermuk, Syunik Marz, are being restored.
