Vladimir Karapetyan: Document in Kazan not signed because of Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, JUNE 29, ARMENPRESS:

The Kazan meeting showed that the process is not over yet member of the foreign relations committee of the Armenian National Congress Vladimir Karapetyan said at a news conference today, saying it may be proved with the circumstance that the mediators are really interested in the signing of document on basic principles and that one of the parties on behalf of Armenia has many times approved the document. This was stated by the President of the Republic Serzh Sargsyan in Strasburg. He said in case Azerbaijan did not forward new proposals it would be possible to register progress in Kazan.

"The OSCE Minsk group co-chairs have expressed their readiness to continue the process and it is proved with their wish to visit the region", Karapetyan said.

In response to the question whether after the meeting in Kazan Russia may get disappointed and refuse to have an active role in the process, giving its place to the West, the speaker said it is impossible.

Speaking about the policy carried out by Azerbaijan, Karapetyan noted that it is obvious for all that the document was not signed because of that country.
