Artak Davtyan: RA President to come forth from strong positions in Kazan

YEREVAN, JUNE 22, ARMENPRESS:

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will come forth at Kazan meeting from strong positions, representative of the Republican Party of Armenia Artak Davtyan said at a joint press conference today with the representative of the Armenian National Congress Yerjanik Abgaryan. The latter agreed that it is connected with the "normal inner political situation" created in Armenia.

Davtyan said the heads of Minsk group co-chairing countries made two important accents at their Deauville statement. According to him, the first was the usage of term NK conflicting parties, which according to the parliamentarian, means that the co-chairing countries view Artsakh as full party of the conflict which is being continuously rejected by Azerbaijan. "The statement also fixed there is no alternative way to the peaceful settlement of the conflict as well as it was specially pointed out that the parties must prepare their publics for peace only. It is a message to the official Baku that has adopted policy of military rhetoric", Davtyan pointed out.

In his opinion, the efficiency of Kazan meeting depends from the constructive position of Azerbaijan. The parliamentarian noted that the Armenian side has formulated the acceptable way of the settlement of the conflict: there is no alternative to the self-determination of Nagorno Karabakh, Artsakh's security must be ensured, Armenia and the NKR must have direct land border.
