YEREVAN, JUNE 7, ARMENPRESS:
The parties today are closer to the regulation of the Nagorno Karabakh issue than 10 years ago, Armenpress reports Andrzej Kasprzyk, the personal representative of the OSCE chairperson-in-office, as stating this. According to the Polish "Nowa Europa Wschodnia", the ambassador stated that the threat of war should be eliminated.
"Since 2004 we have been moving in the direction of developing a common frame of agreement, and we achieved a lot of things in this issue. The presidents of the OSCE Minsk group co-chairing states – France, Russia and US – have made a public statement on the mutually-agreed proposals," the ambassador said in response to the question about what has been done up to now.
"A special status cannot essentially differ from the status, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic has now, so the international recognition of that interim unit will be necessary. After the adoption of a framework agreement the discussion on details will be launched," Andrzej Kasprzyk said.
As to the NK's participation in the talks, Andrzej Kasprzyk said nothing happens without informing Stepanakert. "They are always aware of the process and have their investment in the process of talks," Andrzej Kasprzyk stated.
