MP: No grounds for extraordinary parliamentary elections

YEREVAN, JUNE 1, ARMENPRESS:

There are no political and legal grounds for extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia, member of the "Orinats Yerkir" party's parliamentary faction Hovhannes Margaryan said, adding that the periodical parliamentary elections are not far away. According to him, in the current political processes the dialogue between the authorities and opposition of Armenia is necessary for ensuring internal stability. According to him, from the statement of leader of the Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan at May 31 rally it may be concluded that this dialogue will continue and to what results it may bring is difficult to say. "I welcome the policy adopted by the president of the Republic. He offered dialogue with the opposition still few years ago", the parliamentarian said.

Member of the "Heritage" faction Larisa Alaverdyan said by elaborating a dialogue the authorities and the opposition try not to create possible clashing situation in the country.

As to the demand of extraordinary parliamentary elections, the Orintas Yerkir parliamentarian noted that he treats it with doubt. He said demanding extraordinary parliamentary elections has become a habit.

Speaking about the process of Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, Hovhannes Margaryan said that this issue must be settled in peaceful way. "It is the stance of not only Armenia but the international community", the parliamentarian pointed out.
