DM Spokesman: Jehovah's Witnesses prefer prosecution to alternative service

YEREVAN, MAY 30, ARMENPRESS:

Neither of Jehovah's Witnesses from 2005 till today has applied for alternative service: they prefer to be prosecuted, spokesman for the defense minister Davit Karapetyan said speaking to Armenpress commenting on the recently raised issue according to which the sectarians avoid even alternative service.

He said in 2004 and 2005 about 26 servicemen passed alternative service in our country. The latter though months later boycotted the service preferring prosecution.
