Snow cover in Selim reaches 50 cm

GAVAR, APRIL 13, ARMENPRESS: As a result of heavy snow a difficult situation has been created on the roads of Armenian province of Gegharkunik. The inter-state, republican and community significance roads are difficult to pass. An official from the Governor’s office said the snow cover in Selim mountain pass reaches 50 cm, in Tchambarak 25, in Vardenis, Sevan, Gavar and Martuni 10-15 cm.

The cold weather created ice on the roads. Heavy wind and the snowstorm closed certain road sectors. Though cleaning organizations are doing their work, the storm again impedes the traffic.

The meteorologists of the province say the precipitations will last until April 14 after which the weather will calm down.
